Kimberly C. Bemiss, RHIA, CHDA is the Manager of HIM Data Analytics at SCL Health, a Denver Colorado health system of 9 acute care hospitals and 200 clinics in Colorado, Kansas and Montana. She is an active member of the Colorado Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), volunteering on committees ranging from programs planning to newsletters. Her diverse background in IT systems and analytics includes 6+ years in the semiconductor industry and 10 years in Health Information Management. In addition to Analytics her experience includes Workflow Management, HIM Operations, Electronic Content Management, Coding and Compliance, and speaking and presenting to internal teams and groups on data analytics and dashboard implementation.

Robert Denson

Robert Denson is the Chief Information Officer, as well as the HIPAA Compliance Officer for the Colorado Regional Health Information Organization (CORHIO). As the CIO, Robert and his team provide implementation and support of the Health Information Exchange. Robert’s team also includes Product Development and Innovation, which investigates and builds new Health Information Exchange capabilities to meet the ever expanding needs of the Community.  As the Compliance Officer of CORHIO, Robert ensures the safety and protection of the sensitive patient information (PHI) that is stored, processed or transmitted by CORHIO. Prior to CORHIO, Robert worked for Avaya and has over ten years of management experience within multiple support environments and industries.  He is also a Board Member for the Arapahoe Community College Health Information Technology Program.  Robert, his wife Amy and daughter Danna, moved to Colorado from Phoenix 14 years ago and have enjoyed the many outdoor activities Colorado offers.

Stevan Hidalgo, MS, RHIA, CHPS

Stevan is the HIM Operations Manager at Children’s Hospital Colorado. In his HIM career, Stevan founded a medical transcription service, and has served as Credentialing Manager, Privacy Officer, and Safety Officer.

Stevan has enjoyed his current position at Children’s Hospital for about 5 years. An advocate for education, Stevan coordinates HIM students’ professional practice experiences.  He serves as affiliate faculty at Regis University, has served as Student Advisor, and sits on the Advisory Board for various HIM programs, which provides access to new HIM talent. Stevan is also involved in the Colorado Health Information Management Association, currently serving as Delegate and having served as President for 2 terms, and various other positions over the last 10 years.

Stevan was awarded a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from Regis University, and maintains his RHIA and CHPS credentials. Stevan has spoken on Information Governance, and Addressing the Needs of Our Transgender Patient Population. Stevan is highly involved in the Colorado CSA, recently accepting the Distinguished Member award.

Rene Lopez

Rene Lopez is a Senior Solutions Architect at LexisNexis. His responsibilities include partnering with strategic Providers and Payers to design and implement Identity Management Solutions. His area of expertise includes patient/member identity verification, authentication, data accuracy and data augmentation. In addition to Health Care organizations, he has previously worked with and implemented Identity Management solutions in a variety of industries including banking, finance, telecommunications and utilities. Rene has been with LexisNexis for 9 years and in the data business for over 20 years.

Megan Pruente, RHIA

Megan Pruente, RHIA is the Identity Manager Team Lead at Just Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in data integrity and data quality solutions. In her previous work experience, she worked as a business analyst for a large healthcare organization, where she deployed their EHR across eleven hospitals and various clinics. Her career has expanded into several areas such as electronic implementation, maintenance of electronic health records, and health information exchanges in acute care and physician settings. Mrs. Pruente mentors students and is active in the Colorado Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), previously serving as co-chair of the Technology Committee and as secretary on the board. She also finishing her third year on the AHIMA HIE Practice Council, starting her team in January of 2015, and participates on a number of projects generated on behalf of the council. Additionally, both CHIMA and the American Health Information Management Association awarded her the prestigious Rising Star award in 2014. She is also a nationally recognized speaker on data integrity and quality related topics. Mrs. Pruente recognizes that her career path does not stop, and she continues by setting her Rising Star sights on pursuing a graduate degree in Public Health focusing on Public Health Informatics (PHI) with a minor focus in Public Health Policy.
