Exploring Data Sharing Interoperability: US Census Bureau, HIOs, Public Health Agencies

DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Census Bureau is piloting in partnership with Health Information Organizations (HIOs) and local or state Public Health Agencies in exploring data sharing research and policy implications supporting public health and population health.  ONC’s specific mandate is to support the development of interoperability standards and requirements that impact data sharing.  This session will provide an overview of the Census, HIO, PHA pilot project; discuss data sharing considerations across federal, state, and local communities; and describe future outcome goals such as improving community-level data interoperability focused on reducing provider burden based on increased awareness and coordination of care efforts across clinical and health related services.
