Health Data as a Public Utility (Healthcare IT Connect session)
Healthcare IT Connect Summit
Baltimore, MD
Description
Join Melissa Kotrys, CEO of Contexture and other experts, for this panel discussion entitled "Health Data as a Public Utility: Leveraging HIEs to Accelerate Public Health and Medicaid Tranformation." The session is part of the three-day 12th Annual Healthcare IT Connect Summit in Baltimore.
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of leveraging Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) to seamlessly share patient health information to prevent and manage the pandemic.
Leveraging the significant HITECH-funded investments made, many states are partnering with HIEs to rapidly accelerate value for State Medicaid Agencies and State Departments of Public Health. Some states are using a health data utility model, where nonprofit HIE is designated to oeprate a regulated network where everyone transmits clinical information across the healthcare ecosystem.
Other states are relying on the HIE to provide advanced analytics for important data and reporting objectives of their programs. This session will highlight innovative case examples across the country and suggest a framework for how to identify potential beneficial use cases in your state.
