OUR SPEAKERS:

Vatsala Pathy, State Innovation Model (SIM) Director, in the Office of Governor

Vatsala Pathy brings over 17 years of healthcare and public health. Previously, she was the Founder and Managing Director of Rootstock Solutions LLC, a healthcare consulting firm. She has also been a senior program officer at The Colorado Health Foundation, where she was responsible for grant making and initiative development to support healthcare delivery for low-income populations. Vatsala was a program officer at the CDC Foundation, where she served as a steward and manager of a number of national and international public health projects. Her extensive experience on state health policy research and program implementation includes work with the Office of Colorado Governor Roy Romer, the Georgia Health Policy Center and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado.

Chris Underwood, MA, Office Director, Health Information Office, Dept. of Health Care Policy and Financing

Chris Underwood serves as the Office Director of the Health Information Office for the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing. At present, he is responsible for developing strategies for systems development and operations for client eligibility, health care claims processing, and health information technology. In addition, he has oversight of the Departments purchasing and contracting services. Previously, he had oversight of the states medically indigent care program and numerous projects to maximize federal Medicaid revenue. Mr. Underwood holds a masters degree in economics from the University of Colorado.

Pam Russel, MHSM, LTC Program Director of Government Programs for CORHIO

CORHIO is Colorados state designated Health Information Exchange for the Front Range. As the LTC Program Director, Pam is the subject matter expert (SME) for all aspects of post acute long term care and is responsible for managing the governmental program grants; including the innovative TEFT Grant which coordinates with Health Care Policy and Finance and the Quality Health Network, the HIE for the western slope. Prior to her work with CORHIO, Ms. Russells professional experience includes hospital administration as the CEO, Long-term care, home health and end-stage renal disease management. Due to Pams extensive experience and more than 20 years in healthcare, she was invited by CMS to participate in the Healthcare Innovation Center. Pam earned a Masters degree in Healthcare Systems from the University of Denver.

Kate Kiefert, MS, PMP, HIT Consultant, AM Consulting, Contractor for ONC Resource Center

Kate Kiefert is a Health Information Technology Subject Matter Expert contractor for HHS, Office of the National Coordinators HIT Innovation Resource Center providing technical assistance to nine State Innovation Model states. Ms. Kiefert provides expertise for the use of technology and Data Analytics to facilitate the reform of payment and delivery systems. Previously, Ms. Kiefert served in the Office of the Governor John Hickenlooper as Colorados State Health Information Technology Coordinator directing healthcare innovation strategies for multi-agencies and managing the HIT for the state.
