Nearly 1,800 Primary Care Providers Now Enrolled for EHR Help with CO-REC
Date: May 4th, 2011Category: CORHIO e-NewsletterTopics: EHRs, Regional Extension CenterNearly 1,800 primary care providers across Colorado have now signed-up for assistance in adopting an electronic health record (EHR) system with the Colorado Regional Extension Center (CO-REC). CO-REC is a federally-funded initiative of CORHIO and the organization is viewed as a national leader among the 62 RECs nationwide and regularly consulted by other REC organizations.
The CO-REC initiative is being executed with the help of six partner organizations and assists primary care providers implement, adopt and become 'meaningful users' of EHR systems.
Through federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding, CO-REC services are designed to help more than 2,200 eligible primary care providers qualify for Medicaid and Medicare incentive payments now through 2012. For eligible providers, the CO-REC services are free.
"We have nearly 750 providers in Colorado that are on their way to achieving their goal of Meaningful Use by implementing an EHR and using tools like clinical reporting and e-prescribing," said Robyn Leone, director of CO-REC.
Providers that have achieved Meaningful Use can receive Medicare incentive payments as early as May.
The federal regional extension center initiative is only being funded for a limited time, and time is running out for signing up for CO-REC's services.
