Colorado Beacon Consortium (CBC), based in Grand Junction, is a not-for-profit collaborative of four healthcare organizations. These organizations include the area’s largest hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, the regional health plan, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, the regional health information exchange (HIE), Quality Health Network, and an independent physician association, Mesa County IPA.
The group was formed in 2010, with the aim of optimizing the “efficiency, quality, and performance of our health care system, and integrate the delivery of care and use of clinical information to improve community health.”
Innovative Data Analytics for Quality Improvement
In particular, CBC is being recognized for their Archimedes IndiGO project, which is a decision support tool that performs data analytics across primary care locations, utilizing Quality Health Network’s HIE platform. It works on independent electronic health systems, using de-identified patient information, to track disease risk, preventive care program results, clinical interventions and other community health initiatives.
The Consortium’s goal is to perform data analytics across a base of more than 55,000 patients by the end of the first quarter of this year.
CBC received the second place award, along with the Louisiana Public Health Institute/Crescent City Beacon Community. In first place is NorthShore University HealthSystem/NorthShore Medical Group in Evanston, Ill. All of the winners will be honored at the annual HIMSS meeting March 4th.
