Dr. Mark Prather, CEO of DispatchHealth, and Rick Lewis, EMS Bureau Chief at South Metro Fire Rescue Authority, will discuss the use of the CORHIO HIE in EMS settings at the annual HIMSS conference in March.
Two CORHIO participants have been selected to speak at the annual HIMSS conference on March 2nd in Las Vegas on the topic of using Health Information Exchange (HIE) in the emergency medical services setting. Dr. Mark Prather, CEO of DispatchHealth, and Rick Lewis, EMS Bureau Chief at South Metro Fire Rescue Authority, will discuss how they worked together and with CORHIO to bring HIE to their emergency response organizations.
DispatchHealth, formerly True North Health Navigation, is a Colorado company that offers high-quality acute care via a mobile team and well-equipped vehicle that includes a lab. Intended to help reduce the high costs of hospital transports, particularly for treatments that don’t require an ER visit, DispatchHealth is able to treat patients on-site for a fraction of the cost. DispatchHealth uses the CORHIO HIE to access patient health history via a wireless tablet.
South Metro Fire Rescue Authority is the paramedic and fire response team covering more than 200,000 residents in south Denver. Responders use the CORHIO HIE for post-encounter quality improvement and training purposes and is in the process of retraining 9-1-1 dispatchers to incorporate the HIE into their workflow.
This session is part of the HIMSS 2016 Annual Conference and Exhibition, which will take place in Las Vegas, NV, February 28 through March 4, 2016. Please visit http://www.himssconference.org/ for all event details, including registration and hotel accommodations.
