Health Images has enabled better coordinated care for Colorado patients by making radiology test results available in the HIE for community providers to access.

Health Images, along with its sister center Colorado Springs Imaging, is now sending radiology results, including MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, Ultrasounds, and other diagnostic imaging tests performed at their 12 locations, into the secure CORHIO health information exchange (HIE) network for authorized caregivers to access. This marks the first imaging center connection to the CORHIO HIE.

“We are proud to be partnered with CORHIO and offer this HIE technology to the physicians across the Colorado area,” said Shelley McLeod, VP of Operations for Health Images. “We are continually looking at ways to offer an extension of our unmistakable quality and spectacular service. Patients will have the comfort of knowing that their accurate health information is shared among physicians which raises the bar for level of treatment. Ultimately patient care is priority for us all and we are excited to embark on this journey with CORHIO.”

Radiology Reports Now Available to HIE Participants

Now that the connection to the CORHIO HIE is complete, Health Images radiology reports are immediately available to Colorado providers through CORHIO’s PatientCare 360® portal, which is often used by emergency room physicians and office-based providers and helps to reduce avoidable repeat testing. Upon request to CORHIO, authorized network participants can have the radiology reports delivered seamlessly into the appropriate providers’ electronic health record (EHR) system, facilitating faster clinical decision-making and less waiting time for patients. Health images serves more than 150,000 patients annually.

"We are thrilled to have Health Images connected to the HIE," said Morgan Honea, CORHIO CEO. “Several recent studies have shown that health information exchanges help reduce unnecessary, repetitive imaging tests. With Health Images’ 12 locations connecting to the HIE, I expect that patients and health insurers will further benefit from our services through reduced costs, time savings and enhanced patient care.”
