Colorado providers and hospitals are streamlining required immunization reporting to the state immunization registry (CIIS) by utilizing CORHIO’s health information exchange technology.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and CORHIO have partnered to help community providers and hospitals submit immunization reports using existing health information exchange (HIE) technology. Since June 2013, CORHIO participants have reported 494,695 immunizations to the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS) through the secure CORHIO network. This includes data from a total of 69 individual sites, including office-based providers and hospitals or health systems.
Those organizations utilizing the CORHIO interface have reported greater efficiencies, particularly with staff time manually entering immunizations into the CIIS system. Many participants were able to meet the public health measure of Meaningful Use with this solution because the data originated from their certified EHR.
Successful Hospital Interfaces to Date
Eight hospitals or systems in the state are successfully submitting their immunizations through the CORHIO registry interface to CDPHE:
- Animal Surgical Hospital
- Banner Health System
- Boulder Community Health
- Colorado Plains Medical Center
- Longmont United Hospital
- Mt. San Rafael Hospital
- San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center
- University of Colorado Health System
There are several more providers in the process of implementing their immunization interface to CIIS through CORHIO including 27 clinics from the Banner Medical Group.
