Results From Large Laboratory Now Available to CORHIO Participants

Healthcare providers can now access pathology test results from UniPath via the CORHIO system, improving clinical decision-making and care coordination. 

UniPath, an American Pathology Partners company, has connected to the CORHIO health information exchange (HIE), making their pathology test results available to any provider participating in the CORHIO network. UniPath is the one of the oldest and largest private pathology laboratories in Colorado and specializes in women’s health testing, cytopathology, dermatopathology, gastrointestinal and urologic pathology, and hematopathology.

Having these results available through the HIE will not only improve clinical decision-making, it could also reduce reordering of unnecessary tests because recent results will be easily accessible.

“UniPath is glad to be doing our part to facilitate the interaction between various providers – particularly OB/GYN and other providers such as Primary Care,” says Thanasis Papaioanu, EVP of Strategy and Operations and CIO at American Pathology Partners. “I think this is particularly valuable for smaller providers who don’t have EHRs or otherwise can’t receive results electronically.”

Results Available Immediately in PatientCare 360® Portal

Pathology results from UniPath are available immediately for participating providers in the CORHIO network using the web portal PatientCare 360. Those organizations receiving results via their EHRs can reach out to CORHIO to add UniPath to their list of senders. CORHIO’s Robust Laboratory Data Network

UniPath joins 13 other laboratories in the state that are either sending results into the health information exchange or that are under agreement to do so. In addition, 63 hospitals are sending patient test results into the CORHIO system, with 11 more underway.
