Important Notice Regarding Newborn Screening Results in the Health Information Exchange

Blood spot newborn screening results are no longer available in PatientCare 360® due to a patient-matching discrepancy.

Due to the recent discovery of a patient-matching discrepancy, CORHIO has temporarily removed the ability to view Newborn Screening (NBS) blood spot results in PatientCare 360®. In order to protect CORHIO participants from potential data integrity issues, we will be working with CDPHE to rebuild the interface that delivers the NBS data to PatientCare 360 as quickly as possible. This means NBS results will be unavailable until the discrepancy is resolved.

Please note:  The discrepancies are not due to errors in patient records transmitted by the Colorado Newborn Screening Program. Therefore, NBS results being delivered directly to your EHR are not affected; only NBS results in our PatientCare 360 web portal are affected.

While CORHIO has never removed the ability to view data, please rest assured that we have procedures in place and staff resources committed to address this unique issue quickly and effectively. We apologize for this inconvenience and we want our participants and stakeholders to know that we take data quality and patient confidentiality very seriously and intend to be transparent throughout this process.

The CDPHE laboratory will continue to report all abnormal results immediately by telephone to contracted clinical medical specialists to ensure that infants are quickly connected to specialized medical care. All normal test results will continue to be reported to submitting facilities by mail within seven business days.

We will follow up with more information as we have updates. If you have questions or concerns, please call the CORHIO Help Desk at 720-285-3277 or email helpdesk@corhio.org.
