American Renal Associates signs 13 metro Denver area dialysis centers to join the CORHIO health information exchange network.

American Renal Associates (ARA) is a leading national provider of outpatient dialysis services that operates in partnership with local nephrologists, who lead their clinics. ARA serves nearly 15,000 patients in 217 dialysis clinics across the United States, 13 of which are in Colorado. The organization’s decision to join the CORHIO Health Information Exchange (HIE) network supports their philosophy to always provide the best possible care for their patients.

“With the CORHIO HIE, our doctors and care providers will have improved access to a patient’s medical records, along with the ability to view more complete records than might have been available without the HIE,” says Bernadette Johnson, Colorado Regional Vice President, American Renal Associates. “We also anticipate better collaboration with a patient’s other health care providers. When combined, these features will enable us to make better informed care decisions, faster. And that results in better treatment outcomes for our patients.”

Improved Care Coordination With Faster Access to Information

With American Renal Associates dialysis centers on the CORHIO network, their staff will be able to pull up lab values and patient demographics that are vital during patient intake. “There are certain labs we need before we can admit patients,” says Johnson. “We hope to use CORHIO to get more information about our patients’ health status, including recent hospital records and specific lab results like creatinine level. I see this making a big difference in the productivity of our clinics.”

State-of-the-Art Clinics

American Renal Associates dialysis clinics are state-of-the-art and offer multiple treatment options, including in-center hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and home hemodialysis. A limited number of ARA clinics also offer Nocturnal Dialysis. This treatment allows patients to visit the clinic overnight and sleep through their dialysis. For some patients, this is the answer to demanding schedules and busy lives.

In all ARA clinics, patients are treated to amenities that include private high-definition televisions, iPads, Internet access, and SiriusXM Radio. The 13 Colorado American Renal Associates clinics joining the CORHIO health information exchange network include the following:
