CORHIO and Wyoming HIEs Now Exchanging Data

CORHIO and Wyoming Frontier Information (WYFI) are now exchanging patient data to improve care coordination among providers in our networks. This project allows care providers and staff to access real-time patient information across state and regional lines. This will be particularly helpful for those CORHIO users in Northern Colorado who see patients traveling across state lines to seek care.
“The WYFI and CORHIO HIE collaboration allows the mobilization of health care information electronically across organizations within both Wyoming and Colorado. The value to Wyoming providers and Wyoming patients is critically important because of the security and speed that medical record data can be shared for patient care,” said Ruth Jo Friess, Health Information Technology Manager with Wyoming Medicaid, which is part of the Wyoming Department of Health.
“We are excited to now have the ability to share clinical information between WYFI and CORHIO, and we appreciate the support of the WYFI team to complete this data exchange project. Regional care networks extend across state lines and access to this clinical information expands the ability of CORHIO’s Colorado participants to quickly and efficiently coordinate care with providers in Wyoming.”
For CORHIO participants, Wyoming care summary documents are now available in PatientCare 360®, so if you have a patient who recently visited a facility within the WYFI geographic area, the summary of that encounter will be in the Documents tab via the “Find External Documents” feature. For a detailed Quick Reference Guide on finding this information, download this document.
For WYFI participants, Colorado care summary documents are now available in the Community Health Record. For providers that have a bi-directional WYFI interface in place, the data will be available as an external document in the provider Electronic Medical Record. For providers without a connection, patient data can be accessed in the Community Health Record (CHR) portal.
This connection with WYFI follows several additional connections CORHIO has made with other HIEs throughout the country. We are exchanging data with Quality Health Network on the western slope as well as HIEs in Nebraska, Utah and Texas.
